Did U Know Part 2: What We Believe

Alise Barrymore
There are core Christian beliefs, Emmaus beliefs and all Christian beliefs.
Core beliefs:
The Trinity 1x1x1=1
The Creator
God is good

Jesus as a shepard. Psalm 23:1-6
The shepard is responsible for ensuring the sheep don't wander away.
You can be in pain and have God.
Pain is allowed as a means of correction. Romams 8:18, 28, 38
God can redeem our faith after pain:
Israel as they pursued the promised land.
Joseph enslaved in Egypt.
Jesus dying on the cross.
We must believe God will redeem us after pain and suffering.

God in Your iPod Part IV: Waging War

This is the beginning of a new blog that discusses my Spirituality. I have labeled it "He Livez". This entry is a summary of today's sermon from Pastor Alise Barrymore.
  • How do you offer thanksgiving to God? 1 Thessalonian 5:13

  • Why does life seem like a battle? Because the enemy's task is to

  • kill, steal and destroy.

  • Many of feel uncomfortable talking about the devil.

  • We believe evil happens, but that the devil is a myth. Ephesians 6:12

  • Ignoring the devil does not make the battle go away. Isaiah 54:17

  • We underestimate the devil which opens us up to the enemy.

  • The first rule of battle: You must know who you are fighting.

  • The battle occurs not on the outside...it occurs on the inside.

  • Three ways the devil gets in our lives:

1. Distractions, interruptions, and diversions.
2. Dissatisfaction, discontentment, and disappointment. Philippians 4:12-13, 1 Timothy 6:5
3. Deception. Luke 4:1-5, Isaiah 50:9
  • How to protect yourself against the devil:

1. Guard your heart.
2. Renew your mind.
3. Armor up. Ephesians 6:10-18
  • Reclaim what the devil has taken from you.
